Sustainable Leadership from reflection to action

Civil society practitioners face urgent sustainability challenges: limited resources, high expectations with minimal support, mission-driven cultures that can lead to burn-out, and pressure to deliver impact while maintaining personal well-being.
The Swedish network members SwIdeas and Well-being Lab Sweden join forces to deliver a workshop that addresses one of civil society's most critical challenges: developing personal leadership for sustainability that enables individuals to lead change within their organizations.
According to the Swedish Social Insurance Agency Report (2021), the most common reason for sick leave is mental health, especially exhaustion, burn-out and reactions to severe stress. In 2020, nearly 49% of women and 38% of men on sick leave were struggling with mental health challenges. Recovery from burn-out takes on average 1-3 years.
The workshop integrates two essential dimensions of sustainable leadership: understanding and addressing environmental and social challenges, while building personal resilience to lead effectively over time.
Emily Hanna and Julia Moreira from SwIdeas, drawing on 10+ years of transnational experience in non-formal education, will guide participants through self-reflection, sustainability challenge analysis, and action planning.
Karolina Mazetyte from Well-being Lab Sweden will introduce the "Wheel of Well-being at the Workplace" and guide participants to an in-depth understanding of burn-out.
This partnership creates a holistic approach: participants gain improved self-awareness of their own leadership potential and knowledge of environmental issues, as well as well-being strategies to sustain their leadership.
