Our residency at the Museum of World Culture in June was part of our participation as fellows in TheMuseumsLab 2023. TheMuseumsLab is a platform for joint learning, exchange and continuing education on the future of museums in both Africa and Europe.

Patrick Hällzon, PhD in Turkic languages, writes here about one of the unique image collections managed by the Museums of World Culture, which were collected by Swedish missionaries in Eastern Turkestan, among other places. What was the purpose and how were they used at home at meetings in mission houses, schools and larger mission exhibitions?

Förra veckan hade Världskulturmuseets magasin i Göteborg besök av Bodil Sjöström. Hon studerade och fotograferade några av de NAMES Project Aids Memorial Quilts som finns vid Världskulturmuseets samling, inför sin kommande bok om den svenska hiv-historien.
