Actions for Diversity (2025)

Intercultural dialogue actions organised by ALF Swedish members to promote diversity and more inclusive societies.

In the framework of Celebrating Our Diversity programme, the Anna Lindh Foundation network in Sweden launched the second edition of Actions for Diversity funding opportunity to its network members to implement actions that promote intercultural dialogue, diversity and more inclusive societies.

During the open call, we received 22 proposals from 21 network members and 1 application from the non-member organisation Nema Problema. Three proposals oulinted a joint collaboration with other network members. 

The following member organisations received the support: 

1. Proqvi (Ekeby)

Activity: Come, Join, Lead!

The project supported youth from segregated areas in organising cultural events to promote local development. Through weekend workshops, participants gained skills in teamwork, inclusive cultural planning, and event logistics, culminating in a collaboratively produced theater performance.

City: Helsingborg 

Dates: 15-29 March

2. Well-being Lab (Malmö)

Activity: Urban Oasis: Rejuvenate Your Mind and Body in the Heart of Malmö

A series of workshops designed to restore balance and promote self-care, including guided meditation, journaling, heartfulness practices, holistic embodiment techniques, and a special session on burnout prevention. 

City: Malmö

Date: 10 - 11 March. Free entrance. 

Support received: 8,000 SEK

3. Creative Insights Studio (Helsingborg)

Activity: Middle Ground: Diversity & Inclusion in work space

A public seminar was organised to explore workplace diversity, labour market challenges, and work environments from various perspectives in Sweden. The initiative was sparked by ongoing observations of structural issues in Sweden related to integration, unemployment, and recruitment.

City: Helsingborg

4. Roteract Club Malmö-Lund International

Activity: Film screening of “Human” by Yann Arthus-Bertrand

The film screening took place at Malmö University with participation of the ALF Swedish network advisory committee member, Farhia Nur (STPLN) who presented the work of Anna Lindh Foundation and the Swedish network. The film was followed by an open discussion with the audience about the different themes tackled by the movie. 

City: Malmö

5. Assyrian Monitor for Human Rights (Norrköping)

Activity: Let's celebrate our diversity festival 

The festival activities included a LIVE music band performing self-composed oriental musical pieces inspired by the region's heritage, followed by various artistic performances. The festival concluded with a fantastic performance of Syriac and Assyrian Dabke dances. 

City: Motala

Date: 30 March 2025. Free entrance. 

Support received: 12,000 SEK

6. Ögonblicksteatern

Activity: Tillsammans mot ofrivillig ensamhet (Together against involuntary loneliness)

A lecture and workshop focusing on youth loneliness. In collaboration with BRIS, Ögonblicksteatern hosted a workshop focused on children's rights and how to support children in vulnerable situations. Participants from eight cultural organisations shared experiences and proposed ways to create more inclusive environments for children and youth.

City: Umeå

7. Världen finns här (Göteborg) & LärOlika (Stockholm)

Activity: Bridging Worlds for Better Learning

Our members, Världen finns här and LärOlika collaborated to facillitate workshops and meetings between employees and SFI (Swedish for immigrants) students in order to promote meaningful exchanges that enhance communication and broaden perspectives. Through workshops with Kivra and Impact Hub, they aim to incorporate diverse perspectives into design and social innovation, creating lasting model for inclusive, collaborative learning.

City: Gothenburg and Stockholm 

Date: 1 February (workshop with Impact Hub) and 11 March (workshop with Kivra)

Support received: 11,000 SEK 

8. Support Group Network* (Vännersborg) 

Activity: Kulturmuren 

This project aims to foster inclusion, cultural understanding, and empowerment among immigrants and newcomers. Through cultural activities like language cafés and cultural visits to museums, participants from various backgrounds were able to improve their language skills, build connections and gain a deeper understanding of Swedish society.

City: Gothenburg 

Dates: Language circles on 16, 19 and 23 February at 18.00. Wellbeing sessions with Zeina Coaching company on 20 and 26 February. Visit to the Natural History Museum on 15 February. Cultural event on 9 March.

9. Transeuropa Halles - International Resource Office (Lund) 

Activity: training for cultural actors in Lund with focus on diversity 

A workshop on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) for cultural organisations in Lund based on the Cultural Transformation Movement (CTM) project and in collaboration with Lund Municipality's Culture Department. By addressing key DEI topics like anti-racism, accessibility, and policy design, this initiative aims to initiate a long-term process for strengthening DEI in Lund's cultural sector.

City: Lund

10. Fryshuset, Tillsammans för Sverige (Stockholm)

Activity: LIVEPODD Unga frågor Sveriges religiösa företrädare. Tro och samhälle

Fryshuset’s Tillsammans för Sverige, in collaboration with Sveriges Interreligiösa Råd (SIR), has launched a live podcast as a platform for young people to engage with religious leaders on key social issues. During each session, representatives from various faiths were invited to discuss topics like mental health, identity, and climate responsibility. This podcast aims to foster a dialogue on inclusion and diversity and to strengthen interfaith understanding among young people and the broader community.
