If you are interested to study or visit the collections for a research and/or educational study
To book an appointment you must complete our research request application form. Read the information below before completing the form and please complete it as fully as possible.

Sampling/Analysis of objects
If your visit includes analysis and/or sampling of objects, please complete our Application of Analysis form.
Application information
- Some of our museums receive more requests than others. Therefore we recommend that you contact us 3-6 months before the date you wish to visit, otherwise it may be difficult to accommodate your request.
- Visits are only possible during regular working hours, Mon-Fri, 8-17.
- We strongly advise that you do not make special travel arrangements until we have confirmed the dates of your visit.
- Please indicate if you are planning an extended period of study which may require multiple visits.
- Please note that the number of items you can study may be limited because of space considerations and for security purposes.
- If you have any form of disability and have specific access requirements, or require additional support during your visit, please let us know in advance so we can help you plan your visit effectively.
- Keep an eye on your spam e-mail, since our reply may end up there.
After your application is submitted
- A member of our staff will contact you via email to clarify and discuss your application before we can confirm the date of your visit.
- When all necessary information is submitted a member of our staff will contact you to confirm your visit. This staff member will be your contact and they will also send you further instructions regarding your visit to the museum.
- If you are unable to attend on the agreed date, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your place to another visitor, and also prevent unnecessary handling and transport of collection items.
GDPR
To be able to visit the collections you are required to agree to the GDPR terms of the National Museum of World Culture. The National Museums of World Culture collect form data to use in improving collection security, preservation and . Visitors and objects are for this reason registered. As a visitor you also agree that your photo and name might also be documented for communication used both internally and externally.
